Expatriates in France : Anti-pollution stickers will be compulsory in Paris from 15th January 2017

From 15 January 2017, in Paris, first restricted traffic zone (ZCR in French) in France, stickers that determine the degree of pollution of vehicles must be visible on the windscreens.

Since the new decree applies to all types of vehicles, company vehicles and personal cars of expatriates will also be concerned

There will be different categories, depending on the type of engine and the age of the vehicle. The most polluting vehicles (so-called "unclassified") will not be allowed to be driven in Paris from 8 am to 8 pm from Monday to Friday.

In the event of pollution peaks, traffic restrictions will no longer be based on the last number on the license plate, but on the level of pollution of the vehicle which will be indicated by the color of the sticker.

The color of the sticker will indicate a number of specific traffic authorizations, including:

• circulating in ZCR (restricted traffic zone);

• obtaining privileged traffic conditions;

• favorable parking arrangements.

Management Mobility Consulting has set up an information service for expatriates to explain tehm the functioning of this new system and assist them in obtaining the corresponding sticker.
