Travelling around France during your relocation

Travelling by train

Travelling by train is the easiest and most authentic option for an expatriate or foreign assignee to discover France during the relocation.

Thanks to TGV (high-speed train) you will leave Paris and be in Lille or go from Lyon to Marseille for instance within an hour. The whole rail network is managed by SNCF (Société nationale des chemins de fer). Download its mobile app OUI Sncf , and you will be able to check timetables, book and store your tickets there.

Travelling by plane

Depending on the city of destination, travelling by plane may be the most convenient and quickest solution.

About 45 airports connect the different cities of France.

The 2 main airports in Paris are Paris Orly, south of the city, and Paris Charles de Gaulle in the north. There are bus shuttles from the city centre to reach both airports. The RER B line northbound goes to Charles de Gaulle. Southbound, at Antony station there is a shuttle called Orlyval to Orly airport terminals.

From there you can reach Nice, Toulouse, Lyon, Marseille, Strasbourg or Bordeaux in just over an hour.

Many low-cost companies operate in France. Air France also has its low-cost brand, Transavia, and has created Hop! It offers a youth card for 12-24-years old and a weekend card from 69 euros.
